Bronx Council on the Arts Announces Lorraine Currelley Selected as an Artist-In-Residence for the 2014 Seniors Partnering with Artists Citywide (SPARC) program in The Bronx.

I am delighted to share the Bronx Council on the Arts has announced that I have been selected as an artist-in-residence for the 2014 Seniors Partnering with Artists Citywide (SPARC) program for the Bronx. The call was sent out and hundreds of New York City artists representing the five boroughs answered. The process involved guideline and information workshops, submission of a proposal, support materials and references. Months passed and finalists were announced followed by the interviewing process. This was followed by more waiting and then the announcement. While this experience involved lots of work, it was also an interesting and enjoyable experience. I am delighted by this opportunity and look forward to partnering and sharing the joy of poetry and writing with senior program participants in 2014.

BCA’s goal, in conjunction with the Department of Cultural Affairs and the Department for the Aging in New York City, is to support artists and arts groups of high artistic merit and excellence who will impact the well-being of seniors positively through arts-based activities.
