Cover to Cover: 20 Years of African Voices

Cover to Cover: 20 Years of African Voices is a stunning exhibit of twenty years of African Voices Magazine covers. The exhibit was curated by Danny Simmons and features artists Elizabeth Catlett, Francks F. Deceus, Mirlande Jean-Gilles, Jimmy James Greene, Verna Hart, Clymenza Hawkins, Dirk Joseph, Jacob Lawrence, Otto Neals, Ademola Olugebefola, Sheila Prevost, Faith Raingold and Danny Simmons.

Carolyn Butts spoke of African Voices humble beginnings and the persons who nurtured and believed in African Voices from its inception. Poet Derick Cross gave a great performance of his poem African Voices. I discovered  he created this magnificent poem on the spot. I’m looking forward to experiencing more of Derick Cross’ work. Poet Laydig Kaliba, photographer and film maker Dominque Sindayiganza and poet Ekere Tallie.
